Hello, we’re Kelly and Liz: We are The Makers’ Mentors. Our aim is to mentor creatives and makers to develop your skills, increase sales and exposure, and better organise your business. Along the way, we hope we can help you become your best self too, through encouragement, support, and creating a collaborative crafting community.
Through our own business experiences – both as employees, employer, and self-employed – we have gained a wide range of transferable skills that we can share with you and help apply to your business. We do not position ourselves as business support coaches or advisors; instead, we want to nurture you and help your business to grow.

You may be working another job alongside your arts or crafts; you may be a parent with childcare responsibilities; you may be building up the confidence to share your creations with the world. We have both been there. We will work with you to identify what you need to get where you want to be, whether that’s to work as an artist full-time, increase online sales, or develop your own brand and identity as a creator.
Offering practical help, advice, and support, if you need a website to grow your business, we can do that: anything from a one page ‘business card’ website to a full ecommerce site, working together to determine what’s the best fit for you (even if it’s the cheapest option). If you want all the stress taken away to spend your time creating, we can do that: from the first decisions to regular updates and uploading new products to your site. Or if you want to learn how to manage your website and take full control of its capabilities, we can do that too.
Whether you are working alone, in partnership, or as part of a small team, we want to empower you to learn new digital skills and business ideas, to help raise the profile of you and your creations. We do this in a straightforward, friendly, and tailored way to meet your learning needs and styles.
The Makers’ Mentors is a new venture for us, but we have many years’ experience in business, administration, web design, training, teaching, and mentoring (children and adults) as well as marketing and copywriting.
This work brings us immense joy.
That’s what your art, craft, or hobby should do for you. Hopefully, we can achieve that together, reducing the stress distracting you from being truly creatively free and achieving your artistic potential.
You might be reading this and wondering how we can position ourselves as ‘experts’ when our website is unfinished, our brand identity is confusing, and our social media accounts are barely started. Fair enough. But we’ve thought about this business a lot and have suffered terribly with procrastination, decision paralysis, and sleepless nights. Finally, we decided we just need to start; taking that first small (but sometimes terrifying) step towards what we want. Over the months, we will share our decisions and thought processes with you, so that you can track our progress, learn from our experience – including our mistakes – and apply that knowledge to your business. We invite you to come on this journey with us. We encourage you to keep on growing.
A great idea this makes perfect sense and wish you both success x
Thank you, PJ. We are excited to grow The Makers’ Mentors – and other businesses. Your support is greatly appreciated.
